This is one of Valparai's most thrilling and ideal locations for a picnic. One of the most popular tourist spots in Valparai is the Koolangal River. Shallow river with a pebbled bottom that flows slowly and is surrounded by lush vegetation. The Koozhangal River is a great location that is about 2 kilometres from the bus stop. The site is made even more picturesque by the lovely tea farms along both banks of the river. Even with the shallow water level, there are a few locations where the water flow is quicker. There are a few locations where you can swim that also have depth. While bathing, we also need show attention since rainwater from the slopes may suddenly flow more quickly.

Chinnakallar is around14 kms from Bus station of Valparai. It is known as Cherrapunji in Tamil Nadu. It receives the second highest amount of rainfall after Cherrapunji. The hanging bridge created spanning the falls is filled with wonder and excitement. This location is constantly rainy and foggy.
Chinna kallar is regarded as one of India's wettest locations, along with Mawsymram, Cherrapunji, and Agumbe. The waterfalls in this location are accessible by an arduous journey via a British-built suspension bridge.
Chinnakallar is covered with brilliant deep forest with towering magnificent trees, which creates a lovely environment. It features the falls, which sound like a roaring lion. Leeches are prevalent at Chinnakallar. To visit the falls, one must have an entry ticket.
Near Chinnakallar falls you can find only a small restaurant for lunch which is homemade food.

The distance between Valparai, a hill station in the Anaimalai Hills in the Coimbatore district, and Sholayar Dam is 23 kilometres. Visiting to the dam is restricted since it is a component of Tamil Nadu's hydropower project. However you can get permission from the authorities to visit the dam. It was raining heavily, during the time we visited. The road trip was very thirilling experience travelling in rain to Sholayar dam since you find many turns over the way. The surroundings of the dam are full of great natural beauty. It is not worth visiting other than in monsoons as the lake is dry after December.
We stayed at a home stay near Sholayar dam. You can find more home stay near Sholayar dam to Chalakudy Check post road.

After the day, start early by 8 or 9 via Chalakudy Check post to reach Athirapally waterfalls. We travelled during rainy season hence there was landslide. It took around 3 hrs for the forest department to clear the landslide. Plan accordingly since the landslide may even interrupt our travel from reaching the destination. On the way you will see the beauty of Sholayar dam and it is an exciting off road experience to travel there. It is you luck you may spot animals. We were able to see only an elephant and some wild water buffaloes.

Vazhachal Falls is located in Kerala's Thrissur district's Athirappilly Panchayath on the country's southwest coast. Only 5 km from the entrance of Athirappilly Falls, it is situated on the west-flowing Chalakudy River close to the Vazhachal Forest Division and on the edge of the Sholayar mountains. Athirapilly Falls :

Athirapilly Falls is located on the Chalakudy River, which rises from the higher parts of the Western Ghats at the entry to the Sholayar mountains, in Athirapilly Panchayat, Chalakudy Taluk, Thrissur District, Kerala, India. With a height of 81.5 feet, it is Kerala's biggest waterfall. Athirappilly is conveniently accessible from Chalakkudy either bus or cab, departing from the bus station in Chalakkudy. Because Athirappilly is located in a dense forest and on a state route that connects Tamil Nadu and Kerala, nighttime traffic is prohibited. Before the checkpoints at each end close at 6:30 pm IST, all cars must pass through one of the checkpoints to escape. There is a concrete route that winds through dense clusters of bamboo that leads to the top of the waterfall. You may descend the falls via a broad, staircased trail or a steep, tight path. Travellers from all across India go to the falls, particularly in the monsoon season.
